Who was Don Hudson? Don was born 8/2/1923, the eldest of (2) children to Clarence & Amelia, brother to Beryl attending the Ascot Vale State SchoolWhen he left school he undertook an apprenticeship with the “Essendon Gazette” but on 21/1/1942 Don enlisted in the army and went to New Guinea.Don was attached to the press unit, producers of the famous Guinea Gold daily newspaper and was discharged on 12/9/46, after 1696 days service with the Australian Imperial Forces attaining the rank of Sergeant. Don joined the Crusaders 1999 Tour of England witnessing Steve Waugh & Australia’s World Cup Win at Lords, meeting Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11 at Windsor Great Park in a memorable trip that he described as “the trip of a lifetime”.
